Annual Salon Entry Rules
The Procedure
All prints and slides submitted to the annual salon judging(May 19) will be retained until the annual banquet (June 4).
The judging is closed to the membership, and results willnot be released until the banquet.
There are four categories of judging: monochrome prints,color prints, slides, and digital images. First through fifth places and three honorable mentions will be awarded(regardless of the number of entries in each category).
Each member may enter those images that have been awarded afirst through fifth place in the monthly competitions this year (September 2009through April 2010). If a member has nofirst through fifth awards in a category, he/she may enter any two images. If a member has only one first through fifthaward, he/she may enter that image and one other image. Entrants may substitute honorable mentionimages for first through fifth images, but may not substitute non-winningimages.
Example: during this past year, Member A has received afirst place, two third places, a fourth place and a fifth place in monochromeprints; a second place and a fifth place in color prints; a fifth place inslides; and no award in digital images. That means that Member A can submit five monochrome print award winnersin mono prints, two color print award winners in color prints, one slide awardwinner and one other slide in the slide competition, along with any two digitalimages in the digital image competition.
The Theory
The theory is that this is a “best of the best” competition,and only previous award winners are eligible. However, all members may participate with a minimum of two entries ineach category.
Miscellaneous
There will be a deadline for submission of digital images,probably the Wednesday before the on-site judging (that would be May 12).
